Most of my business is repeat or referral business. I am referred by clients to their family, friends, and co-workers. I have worked with multiple generations within families and have maintained friendships long after real estate transactions are complete. I love that past clients are confident enough with my service to recommend me to people that are special to them. It is always rewarding to hear from past clients who have been happily residing in their homes for years and now need to make a change and call me for my help. I consider many of my clients as friends whether we socialize on a regular basis or not. I am always happy to see them again and we pick up right where we left off.
I treat each real estate client, even new ones, as if they are my friend and advise accordingly. I will not harp on the negative but I will point out to buyers with whom I work any potential issues with resale or issues in general that in their excitement they may not have noticed. Then the buyer is free to make the decision of their choice after consideration of that information. Many of my clients both sell and buy with me when they move.
Often times when a listing being viewed by a buyer who has also been my seller is not in its best showing condition, the client will look at me and say “This house has not been Karenized” and I know exactly what they mean. I help sellers to de-clutter and stage their homes prior to ordering professional photos for marketing. I have even had clients to remain in their homes and not sell at all after the home has been ‘Karenized”. I have grown fond of the term because I know that seller-buyer clients use the term affectionately once they see homes that are not de-cluttered and staged and that they have gained an appreciation for the process. My listings usually sell quickly because they are priced correctly based on market data analyzed together with the client and because they show well after being prepared for the market. I will tell you what you need to hear whether it is what you want to hear or not and then we can make a mutual decision about how to proceed.
Each time I accept a client, I am investing my time, energy, and money and I feel that it has to be a team effort between me and the client. If I cannot help you to achieve your objective, I will tell you so and will walk away with no hard feelings. I am a down-to-earth, hardworking, get-it-done, trustworthy, honest, and truthful person who is sometimes too blunt for the comfort of those around me but many have come to appreciate me for that exact reason. Gone are the days of pencil skirts and heels – I am the agent who crawls under the house with the inspector to see with my own eyes what he has found that you need to know more about – and that is best done in casual, comfortable clothing. I prefer our experience together to be fun, friendly, and painless. I consider myself as the teammate of my clients offering my knowledge to help them to achieve their goals.
I have sold properties that range in price from $50,000 to $3,000,000 and have enjoyed each and every transaction and personality. With more than 30 years behind me in this profession, I feel that I have a lot more to offer than I sometimes realize. My biggest asset is likely my win/win negotiation skills that can see both sides of a transaction and find solutions for reaching agreements.

I love dogs. Well, I love all animals. If you are a seller and have animals, please know that I will want to meet them and love on them. If you are a buyer, please know that I will be momentarily distracted from our objective while I meet and greet and converse with any animals that we run across while looking at houses. I cannot help myself – it is just going to happen. Dogs make me smile and laugh. Horses touch me deep inside. Cats are cool. Reptiles are intriguing. Bunnies are soft and sweet. Birds are interesting. If I see an animal, then I will be distracted briefly – and sometimes will walk to the fence to meet the neighbor’s dog… even if we don’t like the house. I have completed three levels of Healing Touch for Animals travelling to different states to take classes and I even coordinated a class here in Nashville. I can help with behavioral problems, ease of pain, and other things in all types of animals. I currently own several pets of my own either because I found them or inherited them or took them in. I have four male dogs – two large and two medium – that live in my basement with access to my yard, and one small female dog and two cats who live inside.
In addition to Healing Touch for Animals, I have completed four levels of Healing Touch for Humans. I don’t often practice unless requested to do so by friends but I am happy to know the techniques and to be able to help when needed. I have studied many other modalities including Body Alignment Technique (now called Life Alignment Technique), Theta Healing DNA2 Basic and Advanced, The Bowen Technique, Essential Oil classes through Center for Aromatherapy Research and Education (C.A.R.E.) including Essential Oil Chemistry, Healing Oils of the Bible, Emotional Release with Essential Oils, Applied Vitaflex, Raindrop Technique 1, Raindrop Technique 2 and other energy modality classes.
I completed an immersion in Essential Feng Shui at the Western School of Feng Shui in California taught by founder Terah Kathryn Collins who is also a noted author on the subject. I use what I learned in my daily life as well as in my professional career in real estate. Feng Shui impacts the presentation of properties. It can also change your life if used with focus and intention!!
I completed massage school at Cumberland Institute and received my massage license in 2013. I do not give massages publicly but I am happy to have graduated and to have learned so much about the human body in the process. Since Cumberland Institute is a holistic school, I was supported emotionally and psychologically by my fellow students and by teachers and staff at the end of my father’s life. And also because the school is holistic, I added Craniosacral and Acupressure to my knowledge base. I also loved Kinesiology and learning the different muscle stretches.
In 2011, I spent one afternoon a week volunteering at Alive Hospice. The benefits that I received from the patients there were and continue to be rewarding to my soul.
I am a hands-on handywoman and the owner of many saws and tools that I use often. I have taken pottery classes, stained glass classes, and fusion classes. I own a small tabletop kiln that I have yet to use. I also own a diamond bladed tile saw for cutting glass bottles and a flat lap grinder with magnetic diamond discs for smoothing the edges. I hope that in retirement I will be able to enjoy the toys that I seldom get to play with now… I take private Pilates lessons and hope to get back to my Yoga practice. I loved Belly Dance classes, too, but have found myself away from those for quite some time as well.
I went on a Vision Quest in Colorado and Utah challenging myself physically, mentally, and emotionally. My Vision Quest was in a desert valley – going down the canyon wall was easier than coming back up at the end of the Quest with a 60-pound pack on my back after four days of fasting three of which were alone on the land. My chosen campsite – no tents though – was below a rock ledge that looked like a buffalo. By the end of the Quest, I saw many faces and ‘beings’ in the rocks… We did break the fast before attempting to ascend out of there. I meet once a month with like-minded individuals who have either experienced a Vision Quest or other similar soul work. We share in our Soulcraft Group and use techniques learned for reflection and support.
I have been single since my divorce in 1996. I have one daughter, Ashley, who attended David Lipscomb Elementary and Middle Schools and Hillsboro High School and then graduated from the University of Southern California. I am obviously proud of her and her achievements. And I am thankful that she moved back from California and owns a home in the 12South area of Nashville where I can visit more often (although I loved California visits…they just were not frequent enough).
My life began in Marshall County, Tennessee, in a small town called Cornersville. I moved to Nashville after college and have been here since 1979. In 2013, I inherited the family property and go there when time permits. I rent the land for hay production. The back of the house faces west and I have seen some of the most beautiful sunsets from that patio. The house is surrounded by the 77 rolling cleared acres so there are few obstructions of the view. The location is a blessing being in the city limits and easily accessible just an hour from Nashville. But I still like to visit the farm we once owned that is now a horse farm and is far, far from any ‘city’ lights. There is nothing like the night view of the sky when on that farm and the horses there feed my soul. In 2012, I worked there with the horses one day a week for free. That was a GREAT experience!
Thanks for taking the time to read my introduction. I have been blessed with many, many wonderful clients throughout the years and the challenges of real estate have kept my interest in the profession. There is something new to deal with every day. It is exciting to be able to help people navigate the market. I never get bored!! If I sound like a match for you, please contact me so that we can work together to achieve your goals.
